Weekend Shootout - The Doll Affair 2007 Pt 2

With the function room at the YMCA proving to be way too small for the crowd, the Doll Affair extended to the outside where the tables at the Y Cafe were transformed into exhibition showcases for collectors to pose and display their dolls...

Weekend Shootout - The Doll Affair 2007 Pt 1

As an avid collector of 12-inch action figures, I was definitely curious to check out Singapore's first ball jointed doll event. Aptly titled "The Doll Affair", the showcase was held in a function room at YMCA Orchard Road with vendors such as Amethyst Collezione, Black Angel, Domuya, Hallucinog3nic Studios, Kstarr X Angel.Candy-Rock, simply J, Stardoll, tangled web, Valse du Cie, VeryBerry, S:thete x Secret Letters, and Black Rose to name a few. Response to the event was overwhelming with tickets selling out before starting time and the organisers had to resort to crowd control as the function was packed to the max with visitors and customers alike.

The irony was that my friend who alerted me about this event was more of a dollfie than me but couldn't get in as they ran out of tickets by the time he arrived, thus leaving me to risk 02 deprivation by myself upon entering the realm of BJDs...

Hmm... Are dolls a mirror reflection or alter ego of their owners?

After snapping away for over an hour it was time to leave the crowd and chaos in the function room and head outside to see what was happening...

Weekend Shootout - Cleft and Craniofacial X'mas Party

My friends and I spent Saturday afternoon snapping pix of children having a ball of a Christmas party at the Cleft and Craniofacial Centre in KK Women's and Children's Hospital. The centre provides a comprehensive range of services for patients below 18 years old, including those with craniomaxillofacial trauma who will be referred to the centre for initial assessment and subsequent treatment.

"Peek a boo!"

"Pass the parcel..."

"Auditions for 'Live the Dream' are now open! No age limit..."

Warming up...

Getting jiggy with it...

"Everybody was Kung Fu fighting..."

It was smiles all round...
"Erm, did I break something?"

"Yo man, this is our Christmas tree... OUR Christmas tree!"

Artistic talents at work...

"Am I not a sexy Christmas tree?"

With so many photographer's around, the kids were definitely inspired

Yawn! White balancing is boring...

Even more Photography lessons 101...
"This is how you should point your loaded weapon..."

"You mean like this?"

"Yo, check out my new sleeper hold; the World Championship belt is now mine! Muahahaha"

"I'm warning you, don't make me unleash this hound on you..."

"This is my bag, and my bag is not a plastic bag!"

Woohoo! Glad everyone had a good time. Also heard from the organisers that a "Warm and Fuzzy Feeling" carnival will be held in June next year to raise funds and awareness about cleft and craniofacial conditions at Vivocity. Until next time, Merry Christmas!
