Weekend Shootout - Formula Drift Pt 3

Here's the last batch of Formula Drift pix. After nearly a week, my skin is finally recovering from the sun burn...
One thing to note, for some reason there were attendees who chose to smoke near areas such as the above where gas tanks were within reach. Pity that they ran away when I tried to take a pic of them standing near such areas...

One of the main highlights of the Formula Drift event was the tandem drifting category, where one car would be the leader while the other the chaser. The leader and chaser would then have to complete a round on the grid where the chaser would have to overtake the leader. The winner of that lap would be the first car that reaches the finish line or if the other one crashes out.

Weekend Shootout - Formula Drift Pt 2

The Fromula Drift had its fair share of race queens and promoters from Canon, Carma and Goodyear. There was a contest going on where the Carma promoters would be posing with the display cars and photographers were invited to take pix of them and have them printed at the counter to be entered into a competition. Pity that they didn't inform my friend and I that we had to shoot in JPEG because their printers couldn't read RAW formats... Sheesh!

W00t! Am I under arrest?

Argh! The dreaded red flag... That signals a cold grid; meaning debris and foreign object lying on the grid. Also means marshalers are required to run out to clean or rearrange the safety wall...

The paddocks were opened to the public after the qualifying round allowing car enthusiasts to get up close and personal with the cars and their drivers...

It's all good eh?

Weekend Shootout - Formula Drift Pt 1

Eh, my two friends and I decided to spend Sunday getting sun burnt at the Formula Drift event held at the Changi Exhibition area. It was a fun day getting ourselves toasted not to mention high on the smell of burnt rubber. Oh, and did I forget the endless number of photo opportunities?

Motor sports events are usually a time for automobile dealers to showcase their merchandise. Also a chance for everyday common people such as yours truly to snap a few pix of luxury cars without being on the receiving end of brutal PR from the owners...

Next, it was out into the sun as we proceeded to the drift circuit to catch the the wonder drifts and the lovely smell of burning rubber...

Grid personnel must have been cursing and swearing at those drivers who kept knocking over traffic cones as they had to scramble into the circuit to rearrange them every time they were knocked over.
