Weekend Shootout - WCG/Moviemania Coscon
A good part of the weekend was spent snapping away at the World Cyber Games 2007 cum Moviemania Coscon held at Suntec City. Cosplayer turn out was fabulous with several familiar faces and some new ones with character line-ups ranging from anime to movie, TV and game characters.
The weapons merchant was one of the first friendly faces that greeted me. As usual, he offered me a wide range of firearms for my personal protection.
However, he has highlighted the ironic fact that he has been a victim as several customers have attacked him using the weapons purchased from him.
Of course, her employers did not buy into her solution and have aired their objections. The case has been brought to the attention of the courts...
Which was eventually settled amicably out of court with the lady being awarded a sum to compensate for the aggravated trauma suffered. Although she has accepted compensation, she still insists on carrying her personal firearm as she goes about her daily chores.
In some beauty contests, tie breakers involve the contestants to pit themselves against the other in a test of strength. From the looks of this, the judges will probably need to come up with another tie breaker if they want a final result.Culturally Speaking...
Spent the day at WCG with two of my friends snapping pix of cosplayers at Suntec City and headed down to Esplanade to check out Intone playing at Baybeats. As we headed back after the set, we walked towards the front of the Esplanade which prompted one of my friends, who is from Sarawak, to ask if we visited the Esplanade frequently to catch any cultural performances.
Upon hearing this, my other friend replied, as-a-matter-of-factly, "The only culture in me comes from a daily bottle of Yakult". I'm putting this down for the quote of the day.

Visual food for thought
Been feeling rather sluggish lately these days probably because of the sudden void of completing my post grad studies. Came across an exhibition at the MICA building while waiting for a friend to catch a show. Artworks were created by school students and the theme was related to this year's national day celebrations. Here's a little preview:

Exhibition should still be there and it's really worth checking out.

Love Thy Neighbour
Wow, didn't know that the estate that I live in has celebrities for neighbours. Case in point, saw these posters on the notice board at the lift lobby of where I live:
Quite an act of shameless self-promotion but hey, you've got to have the balls to do this if you want to make it big! Wonder if there'll be a mob of fans invading the neighbourhood soon...

Some pointers in life according to Maui philosophy....
Saw a guy wearing a t-shirt at a Burger King outlet in town. Back of his tee had some interesting pointers in life according to some Maui philosophy. Couldn't remember exactly all of them but here's a list of those my friend and I recalled:- The best things in life are not things
- The man who dies with the most toys.. still dies
- You can be rich too; either earn more or desire less
- Age is relative; once you're over the hill you pick up speed
- Don't judge a day by the weather
- No rain, no rainbow
- Be honest, speak the truth, you'll need to remember less

Binge and Purge!
Another day of gluttony as we celebrate the near end of our post grad days. Today, we headed to Mingles cafe at Velocity, Novena Square for an ice-cream buffet.
After several rounds of hokey pokey, macadamia, cookies and cream, chocolite and banana scoops on waffle bits, the ice cream buffet progressed on towards a sausage onslaught...
Urp! Thank god I have voluntary RT twice a week...

NUS canteen tour of duty
Sigh... This is the last week that I'm an NUS post-grad as come Friday the 13th they will strip me buck naked of my access and matric cards and toss me out onto the streets to rot and die! Nah, kidding! But this means no more discounted subway sandwiches and cookies or the good food at good prices from the canteens (will miss dearly the Vietnamese and Bak Chor Mee stall at Biz canteen for ever piling my plates and bowls whenever I turn up at closing time).
So for this week, I'll go to the canteens with my classmates to bid a fare adieu to those who have fed us through those days where we worked hard to code but our codes hardly worked.

We pay tribute to Edward 'Next Please' the Great at the Biz canteen who never failed to entertain us whenever we queued up for his western fare.
And we will never forget the sumptious (yet cheap) claypot cuisines at the Science canteen, the main reason for us to go down all the way from the other end of campus.
Other food stalls that I will miss include:
- The Nasi Padang stall @ Biz canteen
- The Middle Eastern stall @ Biz canteen
- The Indian Food stall @ Engineering canteen
- The Ayam Pangang stall @ Engineering canteen

And etc, etc, etc. Oh well, time to binge! Binge! Binge before Friday.
